Job description

Our client is in search of a skilled professional in cell culture advancement with expertise in producing viral vectors for the position of Associate Director or Director. The chosen candidate will lead a team of researchers and associate scientists tasked with developing cell culture processes for viral vectors, transferring technology to manufacturing facilities, overseeing scale-up operations, establishing scale-down models, and creating relevant regulatory documentation. We seek an individual with exceptional scientific acumen, effective communication abilities, and adept project management skills. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Head a team of researchers and associate scientists to ensure successful development of viral vector processes, process characterization, execution of upstream processes, and technology transfer to manufacturing sites.
  • Supervise process development and scale-up operations while defining scale-down models.
  • Foster innovation to enhance productivity and quality of viral vectors.
  • Provide valuable technical and strategic contributions to cross-functional development project teams.
  • Manage a portfolio of multiple development projects.
  • Author regulatory filing documents as necessary.
  • Deliver presentations of findings and results to senior management, external stakeholders, and industry leaders at national/international conferences.
  • Establish timelines and budgets for the upstream department.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 14 years of experience.
  • Demonstrate a track record of executing projects within tight timelines and adapting to rapid shifts in project priorities.
  • Have industry experience in biotech/pharmaceuticals, specifically in a cell culture role, with a comprehensive understanding of cell culture process development.
  • Display in-depth knowledge of viral vector production, particularly AAV biology.
  • Possess extensive expertise in cell culture, specifically related to AAV production.
  • Showcase the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including active involvement in cross-functional project teams and innovation initiatives.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience managing direct reports or project teams.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the development of Sf9-baculovirus-based AAV production.
  • Familiarity with cell line generation and media development.
  • Proficiency in scaling up and scaling down bioreactor processes.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving initiatives.
  • Fluent in spoken, written, and reading Chinese.
